As one of the six famous ancient water
towns on the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, Wuzhen
is at the center of the triangle consisting of three
top tourist cities: Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou. The
scenic1300-year-old town can be easily accessed through
a number of expressways and national highways. Wuzhen
is embraced by the Grand Canal with rivers crisscrossing
the whole town. The simple lifestyle and folk customs
have been well preserved in the lovely town and it has
charmingly restored ancient architecture and canals.
Many residential houses are made of black bricks and
gray tiles contrasting sharply with the white walls.
Old waterside houses, pavilions, stone bridges and outside
corridors can be seen here and there.
